Netballers and officials from around Victoria are gearing up for the 2013 V/Line State Titles competition, held this Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of October at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville.
Teams from Victoria’s 19 regions will come together to compete in the Open, 17 & Under, 15 & Under and All Abilities divisions, with Netball Victoria pleased to announce the extended partnership with long term community partner V/Line.
The decision will see Netball Victoria and V/Line team up to deliver the V/Line State Titles for another year, a competition that has been running for 28 years and continues to showcase the finest netballers from around Victoria.
Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer Michelle Plane said partnering with V/Line to deliver the State Titles event since 2008 has been a great success for both organisations, with the State Titles being a great opportunity for the netball community to come together in one place at one time.
The partnership also extends to supporting the V/Line Life Training program, which helps to grow confidence and life skills in young people, thereby helping support and strengthen communities through the game of netball.
“With the help of V/Line, we are able to deliver a fantastic netball competition that allows regions to pit their skills against other regions all across Victoria and helps highlight the Netball Victoria pathway for developing players, coaches and officials,” Ms Plane said.
“Our Gala Awards night also forms part of this fabulous weekend, which is an event where we highlight the great work done by our associations, clubs and volunteers and announce the winner of our state-wide community netball awards” she noted.
“Netball Victoria is extremely passionate about the success of this competition and the impact it has for local communities, so we are delighted to again be partnering with an organisation like V/Line who are a prominent organisation in our regional centres.”
Jonathan McKeown, V/Line Regional Manager of North and North East, said that “V/Line is extremely proud of our six year partnership with Netball Victoria and the State Titles.”
“We understand the importance these competitions play in the pathways and opportunities for young players to be involved in representing their region; and also in the development of team work and leadership skills which are so vital for young people as they grow up in country communities,” Mr McKeown said.
V/Line helps support this growth through the Life Training program which visits several country Victorian netball clubs and associations each year teaching young netballers the skills they need to succeed in life.
Melbourne Vixen and Australian Diamond netballer Madison Browne is an ambassador for the V/Line Life Training program.
