The Barwon Junior Netball Championship officially started last week with teams competing from Bellarine Football Netball League, Geelong Central Netball Association, Geelong Football Netball League and Kardinia Netball Association.
The Barwon Junior Netball Championship will become an elite junior netball pathway for players, coaches and umpires in the Barwon Region.
Teams will compete in 13 and under, 15 and under and 17 and under age divisions.
Netball Victoria supports the competition through its coach mentor and umpire development programs.
More than 120 junior players will participate in the competition.
Dan Riches, Centre Manager of the Geelong Basketball Netball Centre said “it’s super exciting.”
“The energy about it is great and there has been a lot of support from the parents. I really think its ground breaking for our local netball,” Mr Riches said.
“But it’s not only about the players, but the opportunities it offers the coaches, the umpires and the bench development. There is a lot of arms that will be helped by this program.”
