Melbourne Vixens Geva Mentor and Kate Moloney will visit a series of regional communities during Netball Victoria’s regional roadshow in November.

In conjunction with Social Inclusion Week, the roadshow provides opportunities for people to attend skills and activity sessions, a netball exhibition match and meet the Melbourne Vixens athletes.

Netball Victoria’s Social Inclusion Week Roadshow will travel to Maryborough on Tuesday 25 November, Cobram on Wednesday 26 November and will conclude the expedition with a final activity session in Leongatha on Friday 28 November.

In order to accommodate for as many interested people as possible, the roadshow activity stations have very few restrictions; all participants are welcome, there are no uniform requirements, the activity stations are free of charge and assistance can be provided in terms of travel arrangements.

In addition to the activity stations, the roadshow has scheduled clinics with Maryborough Special School, Maryborough Education Centre, Lightning Reef Primary School in Bendigo and Verney Road Specialist School in Shepparton.

These school clinics are for enrolled students only and will not be open to the public.

Drouin’s All Abilities team will also have an opportunity to participate in the program with the roadshow crashing their training session on Friday 28 November from 5-6pm.

Mentor and Moloney will be at each event to support participants and answer any questions they may have.

“This will be my third year involved with Social Inclusion Week and I’m excited to be back on the road with the Netball Victoria team,” Mentor said.

“It’s always fun to get out in the community and it’s a great way to not only highlight current national issues, but drum home the messages that these amenities are on offer in a number of regional areas.”

Launched in 2009, Social Inclusion Week aims to address social exclusion and forge relationships by providing accessible opportunities and encouraging participation.

In 2013, over 500 organisations participated and more than 300 events were held. The theme of this year’s Social Inclusion Week is Collaborate, Connect and Celebrate!
