Netball Victoria welcomes the Department of Education and Training’s announcement to deliver 14 new schools across Victoria’s growth suburbs with expanded gymnasiums delivered to Netball Victoria competition standards.
This exciting outcome is due to the hard work and collaboration between the Department of Education and Training, Sport and Recreation Victoria and Netball Victoria to deliver these gyms with the required 3.05m run off zones.
The Department of Education and Training will deliver the schools through a Public Private Partnership arrangement which will see private sector consortium Learning Communities Victoria fund, design, construct, and maintain the schools over a 25 year operating term.
The schools will open across the 2017 and 2018 school years and will support a number of local netball Clubs to build their capacity and support netball’s participation in these vital growth suburbs.
The expanded gyms will support the Government’s objectives to provide first class educational facilities that can be used by the community outside of school hours, providing greater access and opportunities for sports such as netball, basketball and volleyball.
Netball Victoria looks forward to continuing this great working relationship with the DET and SRV. For more information around the PPP Schools click here.
