Netball Victoria kicked off their NV Talent Squad Program on Sunday 5 July. The Program provides developmental and Specialist training across the 2 tier Squad program and provides an opportunity for the state’s most promising athletes to work on their skills leading into State Team selections.
The program is led by Talent Squad Head Coach Cathy Fellows who is supported by Tier 1 Assistant Coach Sharon Hook and experienced Pathway coach Leesa Gallard who is the Tier 2 Coach.
The Squad completed their second session today, Friday 10 July, with a full day at the State Netball & Hockey Centre. This included a number of wellbeing sessions, which involved social media/cyber safety, goal setting and sports psychology as well as strength and conditioning with specialist sessions.
Netball Victoria Wellbeing Coordinator Tanya Gamble was heavily involved in today’s session and noted that the day provided a key opportunity to provide additional education and support to identified athletes working within Netball Victoria pathways.
“Achieving at the Elite level presents significant pressures both on and off the court for our young athletes, it is important that we provide education and support throughout their development to assist them in realising their goals,” said Gamble.
The Talent Squad also get their chance to take on the 19/U English side when they tour in late July in a series of 3 matches:
|24 July||State Netball Hockey Centre||6pm-9pm||Tier 1||v England|
|26 July||Maribyrnong College||3.30pm-7.30pm||Tier 2||v England|
|27 July||Maribyrnong College||6pm-9pm||Tier 1||v England|
