Netball Victoria is delighted to announce the launch of the Regional Victorian Netball League (RVNL) to commence in early 2016.
A revamped version of the Regional State League, RVNL will be closely aligned with the Victorian Netball League (VNL) and will ensure that individuals can progress through the Netball Victoria pathways without the barrier of travelling to Melbourne.
Netball Victoria Competitions Manager Angela Banbury announced the sites hosting the competition today with Ballarat, Bendigo, Wangaratta, Churchill, Sale and Warrnambool all set for 2016.
“The Regional Victorian Netball League will join the Victorian Netball League as one of Victoria’s elite netball competitions,” said Banbury.
“We’re proud to announce the regional locations that we intend to work with and thank them for their commitment to this competition in its inaugural year.”
“We certainly recognise that our regional centres produce some of the best players in Victoria, with seven of our twelve Melbourne Vixens athletes hailing from the country, the pathway we have for these players is therefore crucial in their development as elite athletes.”
Associations and Football/Netball Leagues will be eligible to enter teams in Open division; 19/U, a change from 17/U and the newly added 15/U division.
In addition to benefiting regional netballers with Talent Identification opportunities for athletes, RVNL will provide badging opportunities for umpires and mentoring for coaches, as well as technical officials.
The winners of each location of RVNL in Open & 19/U divisions will compete against each other in a Champions Challenge in Melbourne.
