Regions Boosted by Netball Victoria Staff in the Field

In a bid to help continue the growth of netball across the state, Netball Victoria is strengthening its relationships within larger regional centres by placing staff in the field.

Netball Victoria’s new regional based staff will support netball associations, clubs and leagues, whilst working at a strategic level with local and State Government, other sports, local industry, community and media to identify opportunities for increased participation, facility and program development.

These regional positions will strengthen the communication and collaboration between local communities, key partner organisations, local netball associations and Netball Victoria.

Netball Victoria General Manger – Game Development Katie Redding said the feedback had been phenomenal in terms of Netball Victoria’s additional push to grow and support netball regionally.

“The intent behind having Regional Development Mangers and Coordinators in the field is to have that real face to face contact which enables a better understanding of what our netball community needs,” Miss Redding said.

“With the regional staff in place, we hope to build the capacity of our clubs, associations and leagues and assist them in building frameworks to be sustainable well into the future.”

Netball is the largest female participation sport in Australia. In Victoria there are more than 110,000 registered participants, as well as thousands of participants in school netball programs and thousands more people that participate in social netball competitions.

With staff now out in the field and already based in Geelong and Bendigo (positions to be based in the field at Cranbourne in the coming months) Netball Victoria is ensuring that netball across the state is well supported and continues to thrive.
