03/02/1928 – 23/09/2015
Netball Victoria is mourning the passing of Life Member Patricia Pumpa on Tuesday evening.
Pat was a pioneer within the Victorian netball community, particularly in the umpiring fraternity.
A founding member of the Nunawading Married Women’s Netball Association in 1963, Pat formed a Mothers Club Team in order to play the Nunawading South State School Grade 6 girls team, and the movement snowballed from there with more than 40 teams playing on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Now known as Slater Reserve Netball Association, Patricia was named a Patron of the Association in 2014.
An All Australian umpire, Pat was involved in many aspects of the sport as an umpire supervisor, coach, tester and supervisor, as well as administration and work in the disability area.
She was awarded Netball Victoria Life Membership in 2000 for her contribution to the sport.
Netball Victoria offer our condolences to the family and friends of Pat Pumpa, as well the extended netball community.
