Victorian Fury have continued their undefeated season with a 27-goal win against Tassie Spirit in Round 4 of the 2015 Australian Netball League.
Trailing by a goal at the first quarter, Fury picked up the pace to win 58-31. Fury has now won 28 consecutive matches.
Head Coach Kristy Keppich-Birrell reflected on the slow start, “Our Tassie match proved to be a tight first quarter contest.”
“At the break, the challenge was put to the group to really start to bring out all the components of the game plan and the full scope of their skill sets,” said Keppich-Birrell.
The group rose to the challenge with some exciting team intercepts and brilliant choices to feed the gaolers. Defenders Jo Weston and Emily Mannix worked hard one on one in the circle and were menacing on the circle edge.
This lift in performance saw the team dominate play and the scoreboard reflected that.
Despite the win, Victorian Fury lost the top spot on the ladder to Southern Force who defeated Territory Storm 49-42 on Sunday.
The team will travel to South Australia next weekend to face Queensland Fusion and Southern Force.
Keppich-Birrell believes the games will be a great contest and an excellent build up to finals.
“This Fury group are improving with every training session and every minute on court. It’s going to be a classic match up.”
“We will be using every skill and tactic in our plan to assert our own success on the court,” said Keppich-Birrell.
Victorian Fury will play their first home game of the season in two week’s time when they compete in semi-finals at Waverley Netball Centre.
