Social Inclusion Week, November 23 – December 1, aims to encourage communities to reconnect and be inclusive of all cultures, age groups, nationalities and the disadvantaged.

As an organisation working in the community to increase participation numbers and create an inclusive environment, Netball Victoria is encouraging local associations to hold Come and Try events, BBQ’s, and workshops in order to encourage a ‘culture of inclusiveness’ within the Victorian netball community.

Cassandra Hadson, Community Engagement Coordinator at Netball Victoria, said “Social Inclusion Week is a great initiative as it reminds clubs and associations how important it is to reach out to the wider community.”

“Netball is a strong community based-sport and we pride ourselves on being welcoming and inclusive of people from all types of backgrounds,” Ms Hadson said.

There has been a significant increase in the participation rate of individuals from multicultural and indigenous communities and people with a disability in Netball Victoria’s netball programs.

Melbourne Vixens Madison Browne and Kate Moloney will be out in the community during Social Inclusion Week to promote the event and deliver the Netball For All Road Show.

Moloney will be appearing at events held throughout the state, including clinics at Bairnsdale Netball Association, Mornington Netball Association and Ballarat Netball Association, whilst Browne will be at the National Gallery of Victoria to discuss social inclusion.

Melbourne Vixens athletes will be available for photographs and interviews at the events specified.
