Boasting the title of the premier netball competition in Victoria, the Bupa Victorian Netball League is a crucial step in the Netball Victoria pathway, encompassing high level athletes, coaches, umpires and officials.
In 2018, the competition saw many nationally acclaimed netballers involved, including 25 Deakin University Australian Netball League players, 11 Suncorp Super Netball training partners, and five Suncorp Super Netball players, including Renae Ingles in her triumphant return to the sport.
As well as developing athletes, the Bupa VNL also prides itself on developing some of Australia’s best coaches, umpires and officials. After developing his craft through the VNL, Tim Marshall was awarded his AA umpiring badge and umpired his first Super Netball game in 2018. Geelong Cougars coach, Gerard Murphy, also took his netball to the next level, receiving his High Performance coaching accreditation, the highest coaching accreditation in Australia, highlighting just a couple of the many achievements of the Bupa VNL’s officials.
With 15 games a round encompassing 10 clubs across three divisions (Championship, Division 1 and 19 & Under), the Bupa VNL continues to be a pivotal competition in the Netball Victoria pathway.
