The Netball Victoria Talent Academy has come to it’s conclusion for 2019, culminating in a spectacular day of matches against the other regions in Victoria on the 27th of October. The players from Eastern Academy played skilled, competitive netball and worked hard to implement the structures we’d worked on across the year. The Eastern Zone was overseen by Head Coach Karen Meredith, along with Assistant Coaches Staci Scott and Chelsea Smith and Team Manager Judi Buhagiar.
When reflecting on the year that was, Head Coach Karen Meredith was impressed with the great enthusiasm and intensity shown by the athletes at all training sessions. “They responded positively to all feedback and enjoyed working with Specialist Coaches such as Sarah Hogan, Gerard Murphy and Jade Heinrich. The camps were fantastic and gave the Eastern Region athletes the opportunity to not only get to know each other more but mingle with athletes from other academies. The final camp which incorporated watching the ANL finals was a terrific weekend in which our athletes got to see firsthand netball being played at an Elite level.” On behalf of the coaches, Meredith wished to congratulate all athletes from the Eastern Academy for their efforts to develop their skills and wish them the best of luck to those invited to the State Team screening days. Meredith hopes that all the Eastern Zone athletes continue to not only aspire to play netball at their highest level, but also enjoy their netball journeys.
East Gippsland Netball Region have completed their trials for the upcoming State Titles competition. STO Fran Fitzsimon is happy with the intensity of team training sessions and the squads selected.
