With the aim of increasing participation and building the capacity of the leaders of tomorrow among Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities, Netball Victoria has designed some specific programs and initiatives.
The (KGI) netball program plays an important role in closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The program promotes leadership and professional development to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander women aged 13-17.
Netball Victoria has worked collaboratively with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association (VACSAL) since 2013 on projects to enhance Indigenous and Torres Straight Islander women and girls’ health and wellbeing through the vehicle of netball and sport. The major event of this collaboration is the VACSAL Football Netball Carnival, which is held annually.
