Member Protection Policy

Member Protection Policy

In December 2006, Netball Victoria adopted the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy with the view of being committed to treating all people with respect, dignity and fairness.

The policy aims to ensure the core values, good reputation, positive behaviours and positive attitudes of Netball Victoria, member organisations and affiliates are maintained and enhanced.

The Member Protection Policy covers areas such as child protection, anti-discrimination, sexual relationships, pregnancy, gender identity and cyber bullying.

Netball Victoria affiliates are advised that where a complaint, incident or matter arises which may be dealt with under Netball Australia's Integrity Policy Framework, Conduct & Disciplinary Policy, then it is to be resolved in accordance with the processes in the Child Safeguarding Policy, to the exclusion of all other Netball Victoria disciplinary policies or processes.

For the avoidance of doubt, this means that where a complaint relates to child safety and falls within the scope of the Child Safeguarding Policy it will prevail and any such complaint shall be dealt with in accordance with Child Safeguarding Policy and not the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy (or any other Policy).

Member Protection Training

The Member Protection Policy now requires complaints managers to undertake free Play by the Rules training. As a minimum, complaints managers should complete the Complaint Handling Program. Play by the Rules also offers other free training programs that would be off assistance to complaints managers.

Complaints Managers

It is a requirement of Netball Victoria (NV) that all affiliated associations and leagues appoint a complaints manager. NV maintains a database of current complaints managers and will contact you regarding development workshops or courses in your region.
