Netball leads international Sports Diplomacy Strategy

Netball featured front and centre at Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday as the Australian Government launched its Sports Diplomacy Strategy with the Hon. Julie Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Hon. Sussan Ley, Minister for Sport and Health.

Liz Ellis AM, most capped international player for Australian netball, said sport played an important role in the community.

“The sports diplomacy strategy will help unite people, communities and countries through the values of sport,” Ellis said.

“The different elements – athletes and teams, the world class sporting venues and facilities, innovation and integrity in sport, the promotion of Australia – all show our unique sports industry expertise, people and major events capabilities on the global stage.

“We have so much to be proud of.”
