Netball Victoria welcomes the recent announcement of the 2015/16 Victorian Budget, with the sport to benefit from the $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
Netball Victoria is delighted with the most recent commitment of $2 million in funding specifically for the continuation of the Country Football Netball Program (CFNP).
Netball Victoria Acting Chief Executive Officer Katie Redding said funding of the CFNP was important for both netball and football communities as it continues to further enhance the relationships between clubs, local councils and their state sporting organisation.
“The CFNP is a proven model that drives and increases participation in both netball and football within Victoria and we are thankful for Sports Minister John Eren and his ongoing commitment to the facility development of netball throughout the state,” Ms Redding said.
Redding noted that the Victorian Government’s commitment to several other funding opportunities for netball across the state would allow the sport to keep up with the demand for facilities and infrastructure.
“With $9.6 million in funding committed to build 64 netball courts in inner-city Melbourne over the next four years, our clubs and associations will now have a platform to ensure the growth of our sport.”
“The Government has committed $31.5 million for major sporting infrastructure upgrades in Ballarat, as well as $5 million in the redevelopment of Bendigo Stadium, both of these to benefit netball in their respective communities.”
“We are excited to have the support of the Victorian Government and look forward to working with AFL Victoria on the continuation of the CFNP and other key external stakeholders for the aforementioned major projects which are significant to the sport of netball.”
