Netball Victoria is pleased to announce the continued partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation for a second year until June 2015.
The partnership will focus on promoting the foundation’s ‘Gambling’s not a Game’ education program for sporting clubs that encourages grassroots clubs across Victoria to create responsible and healthy club environments in relation to gambling.
Netball Victoria CEO Michelle Plane said “this partnership extension will see two proudly Victorian organisations continue to come together to support netballers of all ages across metropolitan and regional Victoria.”
“We want to help the Foundation’s message reach families and communities in an attempt to educate and provide awareness about gambling.”
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation aims to reduce the prevalence and harms of problem gambling and to help those who choose to gamble, to do so responsibly.
“With young people being increasingly influenced by gambling through sport and sports betting advertising, the foundation is working with a number of sporting organisations and clubs to help raise awareness of the risks,” noted Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation CEO Serge Sardo.
“Partnering with Netball Victoria will help us reach out to players and fans of all ages with responsible gambling messages and to encourage people to look out for each other on and off the court.”
The foundation will also be involved in Netball Victoria’s Emerging Leadership Program, which involves working closely with young leaders to help spread the word about responsible gambling and increase the number of clubs signing up to the charter.
