David Mathison from Battery World reflects on the organisation’s two-year partnership with Netball Victoria, offering advice for other companies looking to target a young, female-dominant demographic.
Sponsorship and partnerships are integral to netball and all other sports. The support they provide ultimately enables Netball Victoria to develop, service and grow netball across the state.
In 2013, Mathison and his colleagues were investigating on ways to improve the brand recognition of Battery World when they were contacted by Naomi Barter, Netball Victoria Sponsorship & Marketing Manager.
Mathison speaks on behalf of Battery World when he says that the benefits of the partnership have been profound.
“Our netball sponsorship allows us to engage with the community on many levels. Locally we have a link with large numbers of grass roots netball players, supporters and officials.”
“Netball Victoria have been easy to work with and genuine in their desire to cooperate with Battery World so both parties can achieve maximum value from our sponsorship.”
“On a regional level, we are able to attend competitions like the Association Championships and engage with people that may not drive past a Battery World store every day.”
“Our visibility at these events helps develop our brand credibility and I expect will generate ‘wash off’ sales where people remember our name from seeing us at the netball,” Mathison said.
Battery World has become the largest and most comprehensive Australian retail franchise in the battery category, stocking advanced technology products and smaller, more portable battery solutions.
In celebration of the partnership, Battery World are offering one lucky netball enthusiast the chance to win an iPad signed by the Melbourne Vixens. Visit www.batteryworld.com.au/netball before Friday 26 June to enter the draw.
