Netball Victoria has announced the appointment of three new Board Directors – Rob Muir, Miriam Slattery and Marc Giglio.
A nomination committee was established and sought out expressions of interest in July this year. A comprehensive selection process ensued with the three preferred candidates presented to the Board for ratification during August’s Board meeting.
Netball Victoria President, Richelle McKenzie welcomed the three new Directors to the Netball Victoria family.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rob, Miriam and Marc to the Netball Victoria Board,” said McKenzie.
“Their professional expertise in their respective areas will be invaluable to the strategic direction we are taking for netball in Victoria, in particular the future growth areas identified, including male participation.
“As we look to finalise Netball Victoria’s strategic plan for 2019-2023, we look forward to their contribution to help maintain netball at the forefront of the rise in women’s sport.”
All three Directors begin their tenure from Monday, 10 September 2018.
Rob Muir – Appointed Director
A Partner at Lander and Rogers, Rob Muir jointly leads the firm’s national Health Law team. With a double degree, Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce (E-commerce /Sports Management), Rob has been involved in community-based sport for close to 20 years, both as an athlete, umpire, coach and committee member. Rob is keen to make a positive contribution to the Board of Netball Victoria.
Miriam Slattery – Associate Director
Demonstrating extensive executive experience across the Victorian Government and more recently in local government, at the City of Melbourne, Miriam holds a thorough understanding of the government sector with exceptional stakeholder engagement capability. Alongside her Arts/Law degree from the University of Melbourne, her work experience, networks, passion, skills and knowledge will assist Netball Victoria in achieving its strategic vision moving forward. A thorough understanding of netball from her tenure with Netball Australia, coupled with the beforementioned skillset and qualifications, Miriam is keen to make a positive impact on netball in Victoria.
Marc Giglio – Associate Director
CPA qualified, Marc has a passion for contributing to the community from both career and personal perspectives. With extensive management leadership experience in local government, community and public sector organisations, his passion for community and experience as a senior executive involving strategy, governance and leadership will be a good match for Netball Victoria in meeting its strategic goals. Having an extensive professional career in local government has provided Marc with the skills and experience in a number of disciplines including finance, digital technology, organisational strategy and performance, corporate governance, media and communications. Marc is keen to utilise his technical, leadership and strategic skills to positively impact the netball community.
