UPDATING YOUR ACCREDITATION

All on-court umpires are required to complete a combination of practical umpiring hours and attend professional development opportunities over a four-year period in order to maintain their badge accreditation. 
This ensures all umpires continue to improve their knowledge, skills and competencies once they’ve successfully attained a badge accreditation. which maintains the overall high standard of netball umpires.

All umpire badge accreditations are valid for 4 years.
All umpire badge accreditation updating is completed through Netball Learning.

The updating program aims to raise the overall quality of umpires within netball by ensuring they are provided with on-going education and development opportunities covering areas such as:
- The latest information on developments within netball.
- Rule knowledge and current interpretations.
- Having access to the most up-to-date techniques and skills related to umpiring.

Updating your umpire accreditation works on a point-based system. The number of points you are required to gain is dependent on your accreditation level.
 
C Badge Accreditation - 20 points required.
B Badge Accreditation - 40 points required.
A Badge Accreditation - 80 points required.
AA Badge Accreditation - 120 points required.

Points are gained through completing the required hours of practical umpiring, completing the Rules of Netball exam and attending other approved courses, workshops, meetings or professional development opportunities.

All National Umpire Badge accreditations are valid for four (4) years from when the accreditation is issued.
All accreditations must be updated prior to the four (4) year period expiring.

You can update your accreditation within 6 months of your current accreditation expiry date.  
Netball Learning will remind you via email when your accreditation is nearing its expiry. 

Umpire accreditations are updated on Netball Learning.

1. Log into Netball Learning.
2. Scroll down to 'My Accreditations'.
3. Click on 'C Badge Umpire Accreditation' or 'B Badge Umpire Accreditation'.
4. Follow the 'Recertification Path'.

If your accreditation has expired, you will need to email Netball Australia to apply for a recognition of prior learning.

Off-court umpires do not need to maintain a valid accreditation if they are no longer actively umpiring.
Off-court umpires who are Umpire Mentors, Testers or Developers still must complete the Rules of Netball exam every four years to be eligible to present and/or test as part of the National Umpire Accreditation System.
