Q1.  How do you become a bench official?

To become a bench official you would need to complete the Netball Australia Bench Official Online Education Course.  From there you would contact Netball Victoria who can allocate you to the bench of the Victorian Netball League competition.

Q2.  How do you record the rolling substitutions?

Rolling subs are recorded by Bench Official 1 (formerly Champion Data Statistician), who will enter the changes straight into the statistical software in real time (at SSN level).  Bench Official 5 (otherwise known as the Bench Manager) will assist BO1 with the entry of all rolling substitutions to ensure all changes have been recorded.

Q3.  How do the Bench Officials record the new 2 point super shot?

Bench Official 3, who has the combined role previously known as Scorer 1 and Timer 1, will be operating the Tissot scoring and timing unit.  The two point super shot will be entered through this unit, which is directly linked to the broadcast.  Bench Official 4, whose duties are those of Timer 2, will display the scores on the venue scoreboard (if required).  Bench Official 1, is the data entry operator for Champion Data, and will be recording the goals as part of the statistical package for the benefit of the TV commentators.  The physical official scoresheet has now been made redundant at an SSN level.

Q4.  How will the spectators, officials, players and bench know when it is the last 5 minutes and the 2 point supershot is allowed?

Spectators, officials and players will be notified of the last 5 minutes of a quarter by the use of coloured lights placed in prominent positions courtside.  Sports presentation will also make it known to the crowd (if applicable).
