The Intermediate coach course is a full day face to face workshop, delivered by experienced netball coaches to aspiring Intermediate coaches. The workshops involve completion of a variety of worksheets and assignments, including development and demonstration of a session plan.
What you’ll learn:
- Analyse the intermediate skills of netball
- Identify preferred teaching methods and coaching styles to develop the intermediate skills of Netball
- Demonstrate effective communication strategies
- Identify the coaching points relating to the identified skill and detect the common faults
- Plan, organise, conduct and control a skills session
- Demonstrate an awareness of safety in terms of equipment and players
- Demonstrate the concept of sequential skill progression
- Demonstrate the concepts behind the detection and correction of faults
- Describe when to use a coachable moment
- Provide appropriate and relevant feedback during practical sessions
- Understand the role of the mentor coach and establish practical strategies to enhance individual coaching.
Requirements
- Participants must bring 2 athletes to the practical session to assist with on court demonstrations (1.00 - 4.30pm)
- Must hold a Development coach accreditation for 1 year (applications to fast track accreditations will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances and for coaches officiating at high level competitions)
- Netball Victoria membership
- Aged 15 years+
