Secondary Registrations - Facilities Funding & Advocacy
How many netballers play at your venue? Do you ensure those players who have a registration at another competition still register with you? It is important we capture secondary registrations in our data so they are counted as participants at your site. Our facilities team is working with Council’s throughout Victoria providing data and expert advice. Participation rates is a key piece of information local councils and government consider when we are advocating for facility upgrades or building new venues.
If you have any questions in relation to secondary registrations please contact the Member Services team on 9321 2255.

Insurance Requirements When Applying for Funding
From July 1, 2019 the Victorian Government requires those who deliver services to children and are applying for government funding need to be both incorporated and insured against child abuse.
The minimum standards for insurance include the following:
- insurance obtained on an 'occurrence' basis, however it may be acceptable to insure on a 'claims made' basis if it is maintained for a period following the end of the contract
- exclusions must be agreed to by the funding department
- minimum insured amount of $5 million per claim (or $10 million in the case of insurance for a monetary aggregated amount) unless the funding department determines a higher level is required.
We are aware that our insurance policy falls extremely short of the $5m per claim and is $250,000. Netball Victoria along with representatives from our insurance company have met with Sport Recreation Victoria (SRV) to explain the implications this has not only on Netball, but all sports who rely on government funding, to obtain this level of insurance cover for child abuse.
Netball Victoria strongly encourages you proceed with submitting funding applications while we work in conjunction with V-insurance and SRV to respond to this new requirement. The information below is a summary of the insurance coverage pertaining to child abuse and a link to the policy wording which can be included in grant applications.
