The 2022 Victorian Fury team has been announced with three Melbourne Vixens players and six Vixens squad members named ahead of the Australian Netball Championships (ANC) in Traralgon in August.
Coming off the back of a Grand Final appearance with the Vixens, Rahni Samason, Olivia Lewis and Hannah Mundy will be hoping to bring their experience and intensity at Super Netball level to the ANC.
Samason will be joined by Vixens squad members, Ruby Barkmeyer and Emily Andrew along with Casey Demons and former Super Netball goaler Emma Ryde inside the circle.
Samason has proved she is more than capable of playing either goal shooter or goal attack and has formed a strong combination with Barkmeyer as shown throughout the Team Girls Cup.
Ryde offers a different look at the front end and has plenty of experience, taking home the championship in 2019 after shooting at 87% in the Grand Final.
Throw in Andrew who has been a rock for the Wilson Storage Southern Saints throughout the Victorian Netball League and Fury boast a dynamic attack line.
The midcourt hosts some familiar faces including Tayla Honey, who has made a name for herself with the London Pulse in the Vitality Netball Superleague in 2022.
Making her Vixens debut in Round 7 and playing an integral role with the Casey Demons throughout the 2022 VNL season, Sharni Lambden has also been selected alongside fellow Vixens squad member Jordan Cransberg.
Cransberg is a real livewire with her dynamic movement and capacity to swing between wing attack and centre, while Mundy has showcased her explosiveness, strength and drive through the midcourt at Super Netball level this season.
Defensively, Fury boasts a wealth of exciting talent with Vixens squad members and Melbourne University Lightning duo Gabby Coffey and Maggie Caris proving to be a dynamic combination. The pair have a strong partnership and an innate ability to cherry pick passes coming down the court.
Add in the hops and experience of Lewis, plus Geelong Cougars product Tori Honner, and the Fury have no shortage of gamechangers to call on.
