Netball Victoria is hitting the road in 2024, taking its annual flagship State Titles event to Bendigo.
Traditionally held in the spring of each year, this year the event will be held at the Golden City Netball Association courts in West Bendigo from 9-11 March in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo.
The State Titles are now the opening event in the netball calendar, allowing for extended lead-in time for the identification of talent among athletes and umpires and supporting participants to manage their workloads effectively as they prepare for the upcoming playing season.
Eighteen regions from across Victoria will compete in this year’s competition, featuring divisions for 15/Under females, 17/Under females, 17/Under males, and Open females. The All Abilities competition will be held at the State Netball Centre on Sunday 7 April.
The format of the tournament follows a round-robin style, leading to finals where the top teams in each division will battle it out for the coveted title of state champions.
The event sees a wealth of talent take to the court across the long weekend; several athletes, coaches and umpires have made their way through the Netball Victoria pathway in talent academies, State teams, and the Victorian Netball League.
2023 showcased a widely competitive field, with no region winning more than one division. Elmer and Central Highlands won the finals' tightest tussles, defeating Goulburn and Barwon by three goals to claim the 15/U and Open crowns, respectively.
Two Bays, Henderson, Gippsland and Western also claimed their places on the winners' list in 2023, showcasing the depth of talent across Victoria.
The State Titles represent a great opportunity for athletes, coaches, umpires, and officials to hone their skills and gain valuable match experience.
