Netball Victoria is pleased to announce the coaching panel that will guide the Victorian State Teams at the 2024 National Netball Championships.
19/UNDER
Head Coach – Tracey Brereton
Returning to lead the 19/Under team, Tracey Brereton brings a wealth of experience to her role. In 2023 she served as the Head Coach for the 17/Under team, where she guided them to the bronze medal match.
A product of the Netball Victoria pathway, Brereton has excelled as both an athlete and coach, having previously played for the Melbourne Kestrels and receiving her elite coaching accreditation last year. She has also been recently appointed as Head Coach of the Bendigo Strikers, who will join the Victorian Netball League for the first time in 2024.
Assistant Coach – Adrian Ballantyne
Adrian Ballantyne joins Brereton as the Assistant Coach for the 19/Under team, transitioning from his previous role as Assistant Coach of the 17/Under side.
A former elite men's and mixed netball player, Adrian has also been involved with Netball Victoria's Talent Academy program and achieved success in the Victorian Netball League as the coach of Hawks Netball's Division 1 team, leading them to the 2022 championship.
17/UNDER
Head Coach – Jacinta Todd
Jacinta Todd, who served as the 19/Under Assistant Coach last year, will now take on the role of Head Coach for the 17/Under team. Her coaching journey has been marked by success, with the 19/Under team also reaching the bronze medal match at last year’s NNC.
Todd's leadership skills have also been honed in the VNL in her role as a Head Coach with City West Falcons, whose Championship team she led to consecutive titles in 2022 and 2023.
Assistant Coach – Sarah Mylrea
Sarah Mylrea joins the panel with a strong coaching background at VNL level and in the Talent Academy program.
Her experience includes leading Melbourne University Lightning's 19/Under team in 2023, culminating in their grand final victory against City West Falcons. Mylrea's expertise and dedication to player development make her a valuable addition to the coaching staff.
"Netball Victoria is committed to the continual development of coaches within our State and we are confident that these coaches have great experience and skills to nurture our emerging talent and foster a culture of excellence,” said General Manager Vixens, Performance & Pathways Megan Simpson.
“We want to provide the best opportunities for our athletes to perform on the national stage in 2024, and we look forward to seeing the growth and success of our state teams under the guidance of these four coaches.”
Details of the 2024 National Netball Championships are to be confirmed.
