2025 State Titles regions update

Netball Victoria's State Titles is an annual round robin-style tournament, offering an opportunity for regions across Victoria to compete for the title of state champions across various divisions. There are currently 19 regions allocated by Netball Victoria, with affiliated associations and leagues assigned based on location.

Ahead of the 2025 State Titles, set to be held from 8-10 March, Netball Victoria will pilot a restructure of the three Eastern regions: Gippsland, Latrobe Valley and East Gippsland.

The State Titles Officers within the Eastern regions requested a review of affiliate allocations in their area, to address a perception that unequal distribution was limiting the regions’ ability to perform competitively at State Titles. This perception was supported by a review of 2023 member data across the relevant regions, with the number of eligible participants distributed unequally.

As a result, Netball Victoria will trial a restructure for the 2025 State Titles, condensing the Eastern regions from three to two. By providing a more equal distribution of affiliates, and therefore eligible members to participate, the pilot is aimed at enabling greater competitiveness for the Eastern regions. This structure will be reviewed, along with all Netball Victoria regions, following the 2025 State Titles.

Leonnie McCluskey will remain the State Titles Officer for Gippsland and appointments are currently open for the East Gippsland region. We encourage affiliates within the region to nominate for the role.

Judi Buhagiar, Netball Victoria’s Eastern Region Manager, will coordinate a meeting with affiliates in each affected region.

Netball Victoria looks forward to working with the State Titles Officers to deliver this pilot ahead of the 2025 State Titles.
