21/Under Australian squad selected

Victorian Fury stars Ruby Barkmeyer and Maggie Caris have been selected in the 21/Under Australian squad.

The 14-player squad will complete a four-day training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in September which will provide athletes with specialist coaching, match play and off court education.

Barkmeyer has continued to go from strength to strength playing an integral role in Fury’s silver medal at the Australian Netball Championships, the Vixens squad member impressing with her deft passes and silky-smooth movement.

Fellow Vixens squad member Caris also starred for Fury, the circle defender capitalising on her elevation and reach to compete in the air and generate crucial turnovers. Playing with Melbourne University Lightning in the Victorian Netball League, Caris has showcased her ability to read the play and have an impact throughout 2022.

Winner of the Marg Caldow Trophy for the VNL Championship MVP, Nyah Allen has also been selected in the squad. The goaler highlighted her versatility for Collingwood throughout ANC, seamlessly rotating between goal attack and goal shooter.

Congratulations to all athletes selected in the squad. After two years of interrupted netball, the depth of talent on display at ANC and having Victorian athletes representing our state in national squads is an exciting reflection of the strength of our netball pathway.
