Technology Project - Progress update
As outlined in previous Affiliate News, the process to select a MyNetball alternative is moving along well. The working group is continuing with the robust testing of both WSA and PlayHQ platforms. This has included several sessions with our Association and League Affiliates, and these are proving extremely beneficial as their observations provide great feedback and direction. We take this information to both vendors for consideration in the development of the most suitable product for all Netball Victoria Affiliates.
We will continue to work our way through the process and we’ll take the necessary time to ensure the right decision is made, ahead of the 2022 changeover. We will continue to update you of the progress, in the meantime, should you have any questions please contact a member of the Affiliate Services team.
Child Safety in Netball - Tip of the Month
All organisations that offer services to children in Victoria are required by law to implement the 7 Child Safe Standards. This applies to all netball Associations, Leagues and Clubs in Victoria. Child Safe Standard Number 3 is “A Code of Conduct that establishes clear expectations for appropriate behaviour with children”.
Netball Victoria have written a Code of Conduct for everyone involved in Netball in Victoria. The Code details the professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, acceptable and unacceptable relationships. When these expectations are clear it is more likely that people involved in your communities will behave appropriately.
So, while our courts are quiet, it is a great opportunity to have your officials and volunteers read and acknowledge the Code by signing the Code of Conduct Declaration Form.
Play By The Rules Annual Awards
Deadline 13th September
The Play by the Rules Annual Awards are open again - with a difference! In this unusual year we want to recognise the outstanding work community sports clubs and associations are doing to get through the COVID-19 period.
And there has been some magnificent work - from regular Zoom meetings, to modifying policies and codes, to skills programs and much more. There's no doubt this has been, and continues to be, an incredibly challenging year for community sport. But let's celebrate the good things - the resilience, the commitment and the innovation that's been shown by clubs and state associations.
So, why not nominate your club or association for the Play by the Rules Awards. All nominations will get the chance to showcase their work as a Case Study on Play by the Rules, regardless of the eventual winners. We want to share all the good work being done.

Introduction to Umpiring and Coaching Workshops - Coming Soon
These introductory workshops have been developed specifically as online education for beginner umpires and coaches.
The Worksafe Umpires in the Field - Introduction to Umpiring is a guide to starting off on your umpiring pathway. It covers expectations of beginner umpires, how to use a whistle effectively, hand signals and infringements, and positioning on the court. It also allows time for questions that otherwise might go unanswered being away from the court in the current restrictions!
The Introduction to Coaching - Coach Development Workshop is the first step into the world of coaching. It looks at "The Coach Approach" and player-centred coaching, characteristics of a coach, and a coach's responsibilities.
Keep an eye on the NV calendar for workshops in the coming weeks - click here to view!
