SPOTLIGHT ON CHARLOTTE SEXTON – FURY
Having shown her defensive prowess with City West Falcons in the Victorian Netball League this season, Charlotte Sexton is a defensive pillar in whichever team she represents.
Charlotte produced remarkable performances at both the National Netball Championships in Darwin and the 19&Under VNL Grand Final, impressing with her aerial ability and often claiming a defensive rebound, or snagging a well-timed intercept to swing momentum her team’s way.
Her selection in the Victorian Fury team reflects her rapid rise through the Netball Victoria pathway, but she’ll need to be on her toes as she comes up against the Swifts’ sharp attacking end.
SPOTLIGHT ON SOPHIE FAWNS – SWIFTS
All eyes will be on Swifts star Sophie Fawns as she takes to the court in Queensland. Hailing from Wagga Wagga, Sophie has made her mark on the Super Netball stage after making her debut in 2022.
Known for her accuracy from range, Sophie has played alongside the world’s best in Helen Housby, often supporting her in the goal shooter position. She scored 56 goals during the 2023 SSN season, and her experience under intense pressure will be invaluable to the Swifts line up.
It will likely be up to Fury’s Maggie Caris or Charlotte Sexton to combat Sophie’s impact in the circle - they’ll look to use sharp footwork to build pressure and confuse the space for the Swifts’ feeders.
