ANC Game 4
Victorian Fury (54) defeated GIANTS Academy (49)
Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium | Gunaikurnai Land
Q1: 14-10
It was a tight tussle in the opening minutes with the GIANTS out to a two goal lead before the Fury turned the tables thanks to some strong defensive work from Olivia Lewis and Tori Honner. Hannah Mundy was a workhorse through the centre, receiving just about every second pass as the Fury went into quarter time with a four goal lead.
Q2: 10-16
Ruby Barkmeyer continued to feed Emma Ryde with precision under the post, and her connection with Tayla Honey enabled the Fury to push the margin out to seven goals midway through the term. That lead quickly dwindled with Matisse Letherbarrow steering the ship in attack for the GIANTS, as the introduction of Jordan Cransberg provided Fury with fresh legs in attack.
Q3: 15-11
Down by two goals at half time, Claudia Mawson entered the game at goal attack with Ryde remaining in goal shooter. Sharni Lambden worked hard in wing defence to create deflections as the sides traded blows on the scoreboard. The Fury went on a scoring spree in the final few minutes, nailing four goals straight to hold a two goal lead at three quarter time.
Q4: 15-12
Gabby Coffey made her presence felt out in goal defence in the final term, contesting every ball while Cransberg added some great coverage in wing defence. Honey and Mundy maintained their composure in attack as the Fury forged ahead to record their fourth straight win.
