ANC Game 2
Victorian Fury (55) defeated Southern Force (54)
Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium | Gunaikurnai Land
Q1: 17-17
It was a tight opening term with Emma Ryde holding sway at one end for the Fury and Lucy Austin impressing up the other for the Force. Despite multiple momentum swings the sides couldn’t be split heading into quarter time on 17 goals apiece.
Q2: 10-15
The combination of Jordan Cransberg and Hannah Mundy worked in overdrive through the midcourt as Force took the lead, before Tayla Honey’s injection into the game shifted the attacking line-up. Olivia Lewis showcased her aerial presence picking up a couple of intercepts and deflections, with Maggie Caris moving into goal keeper as Fury tried to fight their way back into the contest.
Q3: 15-8
Claudia Mawson made her presence felt as the Fury mounted a comeback, slotting a long bomb as Ruby Barkmeyer impressed with her turn of speed in goal shooter. Tori Honner, Caris and Sharni Lambden started to have an impact down back winning some crucial ball as we rallied to secure a handy one goal lead at three quarter time.
Q4: 13-13
It was neck and neck in the final term with neither side able to pull ahead. Ryde returned to the court and made an immediate impact with her accuracy to post while Caris starred in defence, collecting timely intercepts. With the game on the line the Fury showed great composure to work the ball down the court and make it back-to-back wins.
