With semi finals around the corner, teams from across the country gave it their all during Day 5 of the Australian Netball Championships.
The Victorian Fury fought hard but fell short by six goals to a relentless West Coast Fever Reserves lineup.
Q1 | Fury 16 – 15 Fever
This matchup got off to a hot start, with only one goal separating the two sides at the first break. It was a back-and-forth quarter with multiple lead changes, but a huge intercept from Ruby Shannon in the final minutes saw Fury enjoy a narrow lead. Emily Andrew was near unstoppable under the post with 14 goals, while Emma Putt and Jasmah Haywood combined well in attack for Fever.
Q2 | Fury 30 – 35 Fever
A 20 to 14-goal quarter from the Fever saw them claim the lead in the second quarter. Fever’s defensive pressure made it hard for Fury to move the ball forward, but Lily Graham fought hard whenever it came her way. Fever’s Numi Tupaea had a solid 15 minutes in wing attack with multiple goal assists.
Q3 | Fury 44 – 47 Fever
The Victorian Fury were valiant in the third quarter to bring the margin back to three goals going into the final term. Zara Walters was strong through the midcourt, showcasing her speed, passing and ability to read play. Sussu Liai was also impressive, taking to court and making an immediate impact in wing defence with an early intercept. Fever’s Emma Putt had another great quarter and continued to keep the Fury defenders on their toes.
Q4 | Fury 57 – 63 Fever
Another strong quarter from the Fever saw them break away to claim a six-goal win. Ruby Shannon and Zara Walters gave it their all through the midcourt, while Tepaea Hobson was couragous in defence. Jasmah Haywood was outstanding in the circle for the Fever, scoring 42 of their 63 goals across the four quarters.
BY THE NUMBERS
Zara Walters was impressive with 26 goal assists and 39 feeds. Claudia Mawson also had a match to remember with 15 goal assists and seven goals at 100% accuracy.

Having finished in fourth position in Pool B, The Fury will now take on Giants Netball Academy in their semi final on Saturday at 3pm AEST.
