The Origin Association Championships are in full swing with the Central East and Central West qualifying days kickstarting proceedings last Sunday.
The competition is a great opportunity for young up and coming talent to hit the netball court and show off their craft in a round robin style tournament. With multiple divisions taking part, the Association Championships is a perfect opportunity for talent scouts to assess the 15&Under and 17&Under age groups. It’s also a chance for aspiring coaches and officials to hone their craft and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment.
It proved to be a dominant day for Banyule & District Netball Association, taking out four of the six divisions at Netball Victoria’s Central West Association Championships. Banyule were a formidable force across the day, collecting wins in the 13&Under division right through to the 17&Under Championship division, including a narrow one-goal victory against St Albans/Caroline Springs Netball Association in the 15&Under Championship division.
Over in the Central East it was Lilydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association that walked away with the win in their 15&Under Championship division clash against Doncaster & District Netball Association in an absolute thriller. Waverley District Netball Association just scraped through for the win against Lilydale & Yarra Valley NA in the 15&Under Reserve while Whitehorse impressed against Boroondara in the 17&Under Reserves.
