The 2022 Association Championships finals took place on Sunday in an action-packed day at the State Netball Centre in Parkville. Teams from across Victoria put their best foot forward in hope of walking away with the silverware.
With the round robin style tournament done and dusted and finals in full swing, the day was a perfect opportunity for up and coming talent in Victoria to take to the netball court to showcase their skills. The event also offers an opportunity for developing coaches and officials to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment to help them progress through the pathways in Victoria.
With various divisions taking part, the Association Championships is an opportunity for talent scouts to assess Victorian talent across age groups.
It was a good day for Hampden Football Netball League who were crowned premiers in the 13/Under and 17/Under divisions. They put out a strong performance in 13/Under running away with a nine goal win against St Albans/Caroline Springs. It was much closer in the 17s with Hampden just scraping past Banyule & District Netball Association by three goals.
Banyule reigned supreme in the 15/Under division, defeating St Albans/Caroline Springs by five goals while in the Open age group it was Goulburn Valley that dug deep to defeat Bendigo Football Netball League by just four goals in another tight encounter.
The first ever male competition at Association Championships delivered the goods in the 17/Under division with Waverley District Netball Association collecting a stirring four goal win in what was a low scoring affair against Wyndham Netball Association.
