Association Championships Preview: Finals Day

Teams from across the state are ready to battle it out this Sunday at the 2023 Association Championships Finals Day presented by Toyota.  

After three weekends of qualifying competition held throughout Victoria, 57 teams will descend on the State Netball Centre in the hopes of being crowned this year’s champions across the 6 divisions. 

With the inaugural 13&U boys division proving a great success, this year also marks the return of the 17&U male division, which made its debut in 2022. 

Alongside the battle for the silverware, the Association Championships are also an opportunity for the players, coaches, and umpires to be identified by talent scouts. 

The Championships are a major component of the Netball Victoria Talent Pathway, where up-and-coming netballers from regional and metropolitan areas are recognised for their skills and potential. Selected players are invited to attend Talent Academy trials following their performance at the Championships throughout the qualifying days and at the Finals. 

ONES TO WATCH 

Wodonga Netball Association will be confident heading into finals, qualifying for both 13&U and 15&U divisions at the North East competition.  

The Bendigo Football Netball League will be looking to go one better in the Open division on Finals Day, and continue their success in the 17&U division from the Northern qualifying day. 

Outer East Football Netball League were impressive in the Central East zone competition, claiming wins in both the 15&U and 17&U Championship divisions. 

Hampden Football Netball League will be looking to go back-to-back in the 13&U and 15&U divisions, securing a place in all divisions again in 2023 after a dominant performance at the Western qualifying tournament.  

Parkville Netball have qualified in the 13&U and 15&U divisions for the first time in their program's history. The Central West rivalry between Parkville and St Albans Caroline Springs Netball Association will be riveting should both teams make finals.  

From the Eastern zone, Gippsland League will be looking to go one better and secure a place in the 17&U grand final, with teams also in the 13&U and 15&U divisions.

For the first time, selected matches will be broadcast live on KommunityTV and the Herald Sun from 9am.
