It’s time to get excited… Beach Netball is expanding and is headed to an all new location in 2018 – Port Campbell.
Two years on from the launch of the Netball Victoria concept, Beach Netball in 2018 will now take place in three separate locations from January through to March.
The fun, summer extension of the traditional game of netball has been incredibly popular with participants, and we look forward to taking it to even more people next year.
Corangamite Shire Council Mayor Jo Beard said the Council is thrilled to be hosting the social and fun competition.
“We are thrilled to announce we are partnering with Netball Victoria to host Beach Netball in 2018,” said Cr Beard.
“The competition works perfectly in our coastal environment – it’s fun, healthy and I think our community and visitors to the region will really love the concept.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful Shire and what it has to offer in terms of the environment and facilities on offer,” said Cr Beard.
The 2018 Beach Netball series launch will take place in Lakes Entrance on 20 January, then Shepparton will host the next competition from 10 February at Victoria Park Lake. Finally, Beach Netball will head to Port Campbell on 3 March for a one-day event.
On top of the mixed and women’s competitions already available, Netball Victoria has added a 30+ division to the events, with Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King, saying it is great to be expanding the popular summer competition.
“We are excited to have Beach Netball back in 2018, and look forward to extending the competition further with our 30+ division,” said King.
“We hope that by including this new division, it will encourage even more people to come out and experience how great Beach Netball is,” said King.
Beach Netball is an extension of the traditional game, adhering to the same rules, however it is played on a half-court marked in the sand.
Beach Netball is supported by VicHealth.
