The 2022 State Titles are here with an action packed three days of competitions set to see some of Victoria’s best up and coming netballers all take the court at the State Netball Centre this weekend.
The tournament will see competitions played between 15/Under female, 17/Under female, Open female and mixed all-abilities. In a show of talent, all 19 regions across Victoria will be represented in both the 15/Under and 17/Under division highlighting the impressive depth across the state. Teams will battle it out in a round robin style competition across Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday with the top teams to play in finals and the winner crowned state champions.
The State Titles hosts a wealth of talented coaches, including several familiar faces such as VNL coaches and Talent Academy coaches. One name in particular that is set to have a busy weekend is 2022 19/Under State Assistant Coach, Lauren Nardelli, who will lead the Chisholm 17/Under team. After a three year hiatus, Nardelli is set to sink her teeth into the State Titles, hoping to bring her experience at the Nationals earlier in the year to help guide her side.
The competition also continues to attract a quality pool of umpires including Adam Hoogwerf who officiated the VNL 19/Under Grand Final umpire. Hoogwerf is not the only VNL umpire set to blow the whistle over the weekend while they will be under the tutelage of high-quality umpire coaches who will be providing assistance to the talent on display.
There will be an abundance of talent on display across the three days with a number of the athletes already participating or involved in the Netball Victoria pathway whether it be through; talent academy, State Teams or Victorian Netball League.
One of the many exciting prospects set to take the court is Christine Oguche, from the North East Region. New to the game, Oguche has shown plenty of promise and will be competing in the 17/Under division. Another player to keep an eye on throughout the competition is Piuti Laban who recently captained the 15/Under School Sport Victoria team from Two Bays Region and will also be competing in the 17/Under competition.
Two courts will be live streamed throughout the tournament, including all finals. Be sure to sign up to watch KommunityTV here.
