The Cobras have claimed their third Netball Victoria Masters Supers7s’ title in a row, claiming the championship in the 30+ Social Division.
Masters is a popular annual Netball Victoria competition that allows for friends 30 years and up to get together and have fun playing netball.
The competition, which is open to competitors aged 30 or over, has modified netball rules, including rolling substitutions, multiple-point goals and power play halves.
The competition saw 32 teams compete across three divisions – 30+ Social, 30+ Competitive and 40+ Social.
14 of the 32 teams from Sunday’s competition returned from last year’s tournament, a testament to the competition’s popularity.
The Cobras were the story of the day, claiming their third straight premiership in their division, defeating Mish Mash by 10 goals.
The Redbacks competing in the 30+ Competitive Division also continued their previous success, claiming back-to-back titles after defeating the Doncaster Old Girls by 10 goals.
In the 40+ Social Division the two finalists travelled from opposite sides of the state, with the Murray Magic defeating Frankston Tyrepower, 30-17.
Adding a point of difference, the winners received wine glasses instead of the traditional medals.
Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King, said the Masters competition is a great event and participants really love the experience.
“The Masters remains a popular and fun competition and with both social and competitive divisions, there is something for everyone.
“It’s great to see so many people get out there and play netball and have fun – no matter the skills or level of competition,” said King.
“Congratulations to all the winners, particularly the Cobras – a three-peat is an incredible accomplishment,” said King.
