Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens are celebrating the growing impact of their Community Support initiative, helping more Victorian individuals and families remain connected to the sport they love.
Individual grants provide eligible participants with up to $500 per year to assist with costs associated with netball participation, including membership fees, club fees, uniforms, and coach or umpire accreditations.
Netball Victoria Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Tanya Gamble said Community Support demonstrates the power of the netball community coming together to support one another.
"Netball is more than a game. It creates connection, belonging and opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds," Gamble said.
"For some individuals and families, the cost of participation can be a barrier. This grant exists to help. If financial pressure is making it difficult to stay involved in netball, we encourage you to apply and stay connected to the many benefits our sport provides."
Among those making a difference is netball supporter Jade, who designed and sold merchandise and recently launched the Netball is Life website, with proceeds supporting Community Support and helping others participate in the game they love.
Gamble said contributions of all sizes play an important role in helping more people access opportunities through netball.
"It's inspiring to see people like Jade turn their passion for netball into meaningful support for others. Every donation helps ensure more people can access opportunities to participate, connect and thrive through our sport."
Community Support is also made possible through the generosity of supporters including Jean Cowan and Margaret Pewtress, alongside donations from clubs, associations and members of the wider netball community.
All donations are tax-deductible through the Australian Sports Foundation, with contributions helping support Victorians facing financial barriers to participation.
Individuals and families seeking assistance are encouraged to apply.
People can also support through donations to help more Victorians experience the benefits of netball.
