The final qualifying weekend of Association Championships took place on Sunday, with 38 Associations ready to take on the competition at Finals Day in just two weeks.
The Eastern, Western and Central West zones were the last to hold their qualifying days, and the level of skill was impressive across all three venues.
In the east, Gippsland League had a day to be proud of, ending the day with two wins and a runner-up finish in the 13&U, 17&U and 15&U Championship divisions. Warragul & District Netball Association were unlucky to walk away without a win, their 13&U and 15&U Reserve teams both pipped by a single goal against Sale Netball Association and West Gippsland Football Netball League respectively.
Hampden Football Netball League put their stamp on the Western zone, claiming an impressive four wins from the five divisions. Ballarat Football Netball League pushed Hampden in their matchups in the 13&U and 17&U Championship divisions, but it wasn’t enough to snag a victory. Ballarat Netball Association was the only other team to emerge victorious, defeating Central Highlands Netball League 15 – 12.
St Albans/Caroline Springs Netball Association were represented in five grand finals at Central West, winning the 13&U Reserve, 15&U Reserve and 15&U Championship divisions and runners-up in the 13&U Championship and 17&U Championship matches, going down narrowly to Parkville Netball and Banyule District Netball Association respectively.
The Association Championships Finals Day will be held on Sunday June 18 at the State Netball Centre.
