The Victorian Fury will host the Southern Force in Round Five of the Australian Netball League at Margaret Court Arena and the State Netball and Hockey Centre this weekend.
The round looks set to be a great battle with both teams competing for the first time this season since going head-to-head in the 2015 ANL Grand Final. The Fury were victorious on that occasion winning 58-46.
In order to secure themselves a place in this year’s finals, the Fury will need to record two wins this weekend in what will be an important double header.
“If we can secure two wins this weekend it will put us in a strong position. It doesn’t take the pressure off but it will be nice to have that security,” Fury mid-courter Ella Bayliss said.
After sharing the honours against the Western Sting in Perth last weekend, the Fury have had a light training on court this week.
“The girls were starting to feel tired with the new format of playing two games each round, so it has been great for the team to have three days off. We’re ready to perform this weekend,” added Bayliss.
The first of the two matches against the Force will take place prior to the Melbourne Vixens ANZ Championship clash against the Adelaide Thunderbirds at Margaret Court Arena on Saturday at 3pm AEST.
The State Netball and Hockey Centre will host the second match on Sunday at 12pm AEST. Netball Victoria will be offering a two for one deal on Sunday so make sure you head down to the match and support some of the state’s best emerging netballers.
