The time is right for new or returning netballers to get back into netball in Broadford, with Rock Up Netball starting a new social competition at Broadford Indoor Leisure Centre.
The eight-week mixed Social Competition begins on 26 February, with individual and team registrations welcome.
The Social Competition is run in a more relaxed setting than regular competitions with no uniforms required, and is an affordable option, with half price fees for those not looking to compete seriously. Netball Victoria and Mitchell Shire council have joined forces, in response to community feedback suggesting there is a desire for social netball options in the Broadford community.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said activities like Rock Up Netball would help improve the overall health and wellbeing of residents.
“We know that getting out and active is really good for us, both physically and mentally,” Cr Sanderson said.
“Rock Up Netball is a great concept that’s quick, easy, fun and affordable. It will be a great way to keep fit and healthy and a fantastic opportunity to branch out into your community and make some new friends.”
Rock Up Netball is a VicHealth initiative and is seeing great success in locations across Victoria.
Participant Emma Bemrose, who recently took part in the first Rock Up Netball Social Competition in Moreland, said she enjoyed the atmosphere and was glad she gave it a go.
“I really enjoy the vibe of the Rock Up Netball Social Competition and found everyone incredibly friendly and supportive.
“My worries of being too rusty, old or unfit didn’t stop me from giving it a go,” said Bemrose.
Participants who register for the Broadford Social Competition before 10 February will go in the draw to win a Samsung GearFit2, AND that’s not all, the first 20 people to register will automatically win a Melbourne Vixens match ticket!
