The time is right for new players, or returning netballers to get back into netball in Moreland, with a new Rock Up Netball Social Competition starting.
Rock Up Netball is a Netball Victoria program, developed in conjunction with VicHealth, designed to promote active lifestyles in a social environment. The Social Competition is run in a more relaxed setting than regular competitions, and is an affordable option for those not looking to compete seriously.
The competition comes at an exciting time, with Moreland Council getting the green light to start building 12 new netball courts across Moreland, through funding made available as part of Sport & Recreation Victoria’s Inner City Netball Program.
Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King said she is looking forward to incorporating Rock Up Netball into the Moreland Community.
“We hope providing this more flexible and casual netball option will encourage even more people to get involved in the sport – which would mean more people to give the new courts a workout when they are finished!” said King.
The eight-week Mixed and Women’s Social Competition will be delivered at Martin Reserve in Hadfield, starting on Thursday 19 October.
Moreland Mayor Councillor, Helen Davidson is encouraging the community to stay active and connected – and what better way than giving Rock Up Netball a go.
“It’s an exciting time in Moreland; I encourage everyone to get their footwork ready and pop down!” said Cr Davidson.
