Hoppers Crossing Netball Club is set to expand opportunities for players and families after being named one of the June 2026 recipients of the Woolworths Netball Grant.
The club received $2,000 through the program, with the funding helping to purchase essential equipment, support participation initiatives and deliver its upcoming NetSetGO Holiday Clinics.
A community-focused club, Hoppers Crossing prides itself on creating a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where players of all ages and abilities can thrive. Built on strong family values, teamwork and sportsmanship, the club is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, coaches and committee members who are passionate about providing positive experiences both on and off the court.
Alongside developing players, Hoppers Crossing is focused on growing participation within its local community through initiatives such as its "Bring a Friend" sessions, where new participants can experience netball in a fun and welcoming environment with their first session free.
Receiving the Woolworths Netball Grant was welcome recognition of those ongoing efforts.
"We were incredibly excited and grateful," the club said.
"Grants like this make a significant difference to community clubs, so receiving the news was a wonderful surprise. It was fantastic to know that our efforts to continue growing and supporting our members had been recognised."
The funding will allow Hoppers Crossing to invest back into its players, coaches and volunteers while helping ease some of the financial pressures faced by grassroots sport.
"The funding will be used to purchase much-needed equipment and resources for our players and coaches, helping us improve training sessions, support our participation programs and enhance game-day experiences," the club said.
"It will also assist in delivering initiatives such as our NetSetGo Holiday Clinics, ensuring participants have access to quality equipment and a positive learning environment."
Like many grassroots sporting organisations, Hoppers Crossing continues to balance rising operating costs while keeping participation affordable for local families.
"This funding will help ease some of those financial pressures by allowing us to invest in essential equipment without passing additional costs onto our members, while continuing to expand opportunities for new players to become involved," the club said.
The club believes programs like the Woolworths Netball Grant play an important role in helping community clubs continue to grow.
"Programs like the Woolworths Netball Grant are incredibly important. They provide community clubs and associations with opportunities to improve facilities, purchase equipment and support volunteers, all of which contribute to creating better experiences for players," the club said.
"They also enable clubs and associations to trial new participation initiatives that make netball more accessible to families and encourage lifelong involvement in the sport. Investing in grassroots netball helps strengthen local communities and ensures associations like ours can continue to grow and thrive for years to come."
Applications for the July 2026 Woolworths Netball Grant are now open. Clubs and associations are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to receive funding to support participation, equipment and community initiatives.
