The host venues for the Netball Victoria Association Championships qualifying days have been unveiled in the lead up to the 2024 competition.
The Championships provide more than 180 Victorian associations and leagues the opportunity to compete in a crucial step of the Netball Victoria pathway, with talent identification opportunities for athletes and umpires at all tournament days across the state.
Association Championships are a key event to showcase facility redevelopments, with the 2024 Central East qualifying day being held at the long-awaited redeveloped Jubilee Park, home to Frankston & District Netball Association. The Northern qualifying day returns to Mildura Netball Association after 10 years, to be hosted at the newly developed Sporting Precinct.
“It’s pleasing to see that the Mildura Sporting Precinct facility will be hosting the Association Championships in 2024,” said Netball Victoria Facilities Development & Support Manager Shelley Haynes.
“This $30 million regional facility, consisting of six indoor courts and four new outdoor courts, was one of our working projects – we highlighted that hosting Netball Victoria events like this one was important for our pathway programs and it’s exciting to see that potential come to fruition.”
With 350 association and league representative teams from across the state set to compete, the Championships are a highlight of the Victorian netball calendar.
One of the key changes in 2024 is the introduction of a separate competition day dedicated to hosting the male divisions: 13&U, 15&U, and 17&U, where the champions will be crowned.
This exciting change allows for increased growth in the male participation space, granting more opportunities for male players to showcase their skills.
Seven locations will witness spirited competition and fierce battles in which the 13&U, 15&U and 17&U Female divisions vie for a chance to compete in the anticipated Finals Day on Sunday 16 June at the State Netball Centre in Parkville, alongside the Open and All Abilities divisions.
