The inaugural Australian Netball Championships (ANC) will take place at Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in Traralgon from August 22- 28 this year, as the Victorian Fury battle it out with the nine other clubs for national bragging rights.
Throughout the years many talented netballers have come through the Victorian Fury pathway, including Melbourne Vixens shooter Rahni Samason and 2022 squad members Maggie Caris, Emily Andrew, Gabby Coffey, Jordan Cransberg and Sharni Lambden.
The Fury will be looking to defend their title when they head down the highway to Traralgon, crowned premiers in 2019 and runners up in 2017.
Following postponements in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic, there is plenty of anticipation around the ANC this year with the new pathway set to provide an avenue for aspiring netballers to reach the elite level.
Replacing the Australian Netball League (ANL), it’s the first time the new format round-robin style will take place with all 10 teams from state and territory member organisations and the Suncorp Super Netball league competing for the silverware.
The confirmed teams that will compete in the Championships include the Collingwood Magpies, Tasmania, Capital Darters, Queensland Sapphires, Victorian Fury, Giants Academy, QBE Swifts Academy, West Coast Fever Reserves, Sunshine Coast Lightning and Southern Force.
