Since 1993, Lorelle Lowe has played every one of her senior games in Rosedale colours. This year that tally passed 400, a number that places her among a small group of players across the state who have given their entire careers to a single club.
Rosedale is a family affair for the Lowes. Her husband Chris has played more than 250 games with the football side of the club, and their two children now represent Rosedale in the junior football and netball teams. For Lowe, that shared history is central to what makes the milestone mean something.
“It’s a pretty special place to be a part of, and that sense of connection and belonging to a club is something I have always valued,” she said. “It is just as rewarding now to see our own children following the same path, building their own friendships, developing a love for the game, and experiencing the same supportive club environment that we have.”
“I have always loved the game and enjoy playing competitively,” she said. “Team sport has a unique way of bringing people together. Netball has given me the opportunity to grow, develop new skills, and experience success through hard work and perseverance, surrounded by great mates.”
It’s a familiar pattern in community netball across Victoria: players who build a life around one club rarely stop at playing. Lowe is now a committee member for the Rosedale Junior Football Netball Club and has coached its Under 9s netball team for the past two seasons, part of the volunteer network that keeps grassroots clubs running season after season.
“I have learnt the value of commitment, teamwork and leadership,” she said. “Now as one of the more experienced players, it is rewarding to give back and focus on the development of our younger players. Being able to support their growth, and help them build confidence in their game is something I am passionate about.”
Across more than 400 games, the highlights are hard to narrow down. Lowe has been part of five A Grade premiership sides, and in 2025 was awarded life membership in recognition of her contribution to the club.
“There are so many highlights over the years,” Lowe said. “I have great memories of social events in our old club rooms too. Most importantly, it’s the friendships that come from playing team sport that I will reflect back on in years to come.”
