Netball Victoria has announced Natimuk United Football Netball Club as the first affiliated recipient of its Disaster Recovery Grant, with $5,000 to help replace essential netball equipment following the January 2026 bushfires.
Delivered through Netball Victoria’s Community Support Program, the funding will support the replacement of damaged uniforms, bibs, NetSetGo equipment and other training and competition items after the club’s facilities and equipment were affected by smoke damage and asbestos concerns.
The Natimuk community was significantly impacted by fires on 8 January 2026, with damage extending beyond the club to local families, including members who lost homes.
Netball Victoria Head of Corporate and Social Responsibility Tanya Gamble said the grant provides practical support to individuals, clubs and associations affected by declared major disasters.
“Netball clubs are often at the heart of regional communities and helping people come back together safely can play an important role in recovery,” Ms Gamble said. “This grant was established to provide targeted support where it is needed most, and Natimuk United Football Netball Club is a deserving first recipient.”
Natimuk United Football Netball Club Netball Director Janelle Bales said the grant was a significant boost for the small, tight-knit community club.
“This grant will help us get players back on court with the uniforms, bibs and equipment they need from NetSetGo through to seniors,” Ms Bales said. “It will also help restore a safe, welcoming place for players, coaches and families to reconnect after a challenging period. We are incredibly grateful for Netball Victoria’s support, which now allows us to plan ahead and purchase equipment we otherwise could not afford.”
The Disaster Recovery Grant supports individuals and affiliated organisations affected by declared major disasters, including bushfires, floods and severe storms.
Eligible individuals and netball families experiencing financial hardship can apply for grants of up to $500 to help cover membership fees, club fees, uniforms, and coach or umpire accreditation.
Affiliated clubs, associations and leagues can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to support recovery and rebuilding, including minor facility repairs, replacement equipment, community recovery initiatives and membership levy assistance.
Individuals, clubs, associations and leagues in affected communities are encouraged to apply through Netball Victoria’s Community Support Program.
