Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens are pleased to announce a three-year partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s Love the Game program.
The exciting collaboration will see Netball Victoria maintain and strengthen its commitment to saying no to sports betting sponsorship and other gambling-related income, continuing its work to educate the Victorian netball community and disrupt the normalisation of gambling in sport.
“Netball Victoria is proud to be a leader in tackling this serious issue, which has implications not only for individuals, but whole communities,” said Netball Victoria CEO, Rosie King OAM.
“We’re committed to saying no to sports betting sponsorship and encouraging our Victorian netball community to love the game, not the odds.”
“Love the Game partners, elite players, coaches and other role models are playing an important part in teaching young fans and aspiring athletes about the risks associated with gambling before they are legally allowed to bet,” Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation CEO, Shane Lucas said.
“The Love the Game program is focused on the wellbeing of the next generation – ensuring our kids understand the potential risk of harm from gambling.”
The Love the Game program involves Victorian clubs across all levels of sport. Currently, 23 grassroots netball clubs are signed up to the program, which aims to limit the exposure of young people to gambling promotions and encourage them to love the game, not the odds.
Netball Victoria is committed to building healthy and safe sporting environments across the state. Through this inspiring new partnership, we will continue to work to reduce the impact of gambling in sport and in our communities.
